A healthy diet is important for everybody, and people in their later stages of life need to keep up with a healthy diet. But healthy foods can be delicious, too! Here’s a list of some of our favorite healthy desserts to make with your senior friends and family members.

A gentle reminder that many seniors have diet restrictions and those should also be taken into account.

People with diabetes, kidney disease, gout, or celiac disease should take special care.

  1. Chocolate Banana Bread

Chocolate Banana Bread

Banana bread is one of my favorite desserts. This recipe is gluten-free, vegan, and refined sugar-free, making it an inclusive and healthy option for anybody! For this recipe, you’ll want to make sure you use very ripe bananas, especially ones that have been stored in a freezer and are extra sweet.

  1. Mascarpone Mini Cupcakes with Strawberry Glaze

Mascarpone Mini Cupcakes

This simple-yet-delicious recipe will take under an hour to bake. Yielding 4-dozen mini cupcakes, this dessert is sure to please. You’ll need about a couple of mini muffin tins and 48 mini muffin paper cupcake liners to make this dessert, so be sure to keep that in mind. You can buy this one at Target, or they can likely be found at any store that sells kitchen equipment. Here is a link to the recipe.

  1. Crunchy Peanut Butter Thins

Peanut Butter ThinsThis one is for peanut butter lovers. This recipe includes chia seeds, which are a fantastic source of omega-3 fatty acids.

These thins are surprisingly simple to make and are a whole lot of fun to eat.

  1. Meyer Lemon-Blueberry Cake

Blueberry Lemon Cake

The only thing better than lemon and blueberry is a cake made out of both of them. This recipe may be a bit more complicated than the previous three, but it’s worth it. These Bundt cakes are delicious. Serving them with lemon curd is highly recommended.

  1. Kiwi Ice Pops

Kiwi Ice PopsWith summer coming quickly, it’s a great time to start thinking of great desserts to cool down with. This recipe for Kiwi Ice Pops is not only exceptionally easy to make but also exceptionally delicious. You just need some water, sugar, kiwis, and lime juice. These desserts will take about 6 hours to freeze, so they’ll take a bit of planning.

I really hope you enjoy all of these recipes.  I’d love to hear about what your favorite desserts are, too!  Let me know in the comments!
