One of the most common questions we get is what services we offer within our home health and hospice care. We’re always so pleased to say how many helpful services we have available! Some of the most beneficial services we offer are our various therapies. When it comes to Hospice and Home Health care, you will find several similarities, but care goals are different. To fit the specific goals of your care, we offer different therapies in Hospice care than we do Home Health care. In this blog, we’ll go over which therapies we offer within Hospice and Home Health care, respectively.
Hospice Care Therapies
Massage therapy is incredibly effective in relieving pain and stress. In Hospice care, the goal is to make a patient’s end of life as pain-free and fulfilling as possible. Massage therapy is one of the most common ways to relieve pain without medication.
One of the more unique therapies we offer at Aspire Home Health & Hospice is our music therapy. We provide a licensed music therapist to come to our patients’ homes and play music using several instruments to perform this type of therapy. Music therapy aims to assist in relaxation and stress management through music. This relaxation and stress relief can come through listening and breathing to music, quietly humming to music, or even making music!
Therapy (With a Mental Health Professional)
Because hospice care occurs at the end of a patient’s life after a terminal diagnosis, they will likely need somebody to be there to talk with them about how they’re feeling and coming to terms with being at the end of their life. It won’t always be the case, but it’s certainly common. By having a licensed social worker performing this therapy, we ensure it is as effective and helpful as possible. Therapy can help patients develop coping skills and feel more at peace at the end of their life.
Home Health Care Therapies
Occupational therapy is one of our most popular services at Aspire Home Health & Hospice. In occupational therapy, patients work one-on-one with licensed therapists to either regain or maintain the ability to enjoy everyday tasks. We work with our patients to help them be more independent and self-sufficient.
Physical therapy is movement-based therapy aimed to ease pain and improve function and mobility. In physical therapy, we use these practices to work with our patients to build more muscle mass and help them get more robust, ease pain, and increase mobility.
Speech therapy’s purpose is to improve communication. Especially in adults who suffer brain injuries, illnesses, or strokes, speech therapy can be very effective in enhancing their communication and helping them speak effectively.
At Aspire Home Health & Hospice, we are committed to our patients. We offer these services to help them achieve their goals and feel as much relief and happiness as possible.
