Companionship is an essential part of human life — and the importance of it does not diminish as you grow older. No one wants to live their golden years alone. Here at Aspire Home Health and Hospice, we want to help people live their best life in all aspects. So if you’ve clicked on this blog wanting to learn more about dating sites for older adults, you’ve come to the right place!
We have scoured the internet and found the top several dating websites for senior citizens. Each site has its own niche and so we have tried to point that out for you. We are listing the sites in no particular order:
Silver Singles (silversingles.com) — for those dating again after a previous marriage
How It Works: If you’re dating over 60, chances are this is your second or third attempt at love. Silver Singles uses an intense compatibility system to match you up with other older singles who share similar interests and whose personality the system thinks you’d be compatible with. Silver Singles wants its users to know that safety is it’s number one concern, and they work hard to verify that the people using their site are really who they say they are. As an added bonus, Silver Singles has been working on developing a five-factor personality model for about two decades, leading to better and more efficient connections between potential lovers. The questionnaire takes quite a while to finish, but once you complete it, you’re more likely to meet that perfect somebody.
The Cost: There is a free version, as well as a more premium version at $49.95 per month for 3-months, $37.95 per month for 6-months, and $27.95 per month for 12-months.
Our Time (ourtime.com) — for those looking for more than one type of companionship
How It Works: OurTime is a website focused on helping people over 50 find pen pals, travel companions, and other types of casual relationships in addition to romance. The website is very user-friendly and has a laid back atmosphere. After creating a profile, matches will be recommended to you. You also have the option to look up other profiles based on certain preferences.
The Cost: Although there is a free version, not all functions are able to be used with it (such as directly contacting a match). The upgraded plan is $29.96 for one month, or $15 per month if you pick the 6-month plan.
Match (match.com) — for those who like options
How It Works: Unlike several other dating sites which choose your matches for you based off of your questionnaire results, Match has you create a profile that will appear in other people’s feed. While Match does suggest five daily matches for you, you also have the ability to browse through other profiles based on age, location, etc. Match also has a pretty unique feature called “Missed Opportunity” that uses your location (if you allow it) to help you find matches you’ve crossed paths with in real life. Match first debuted in 1995, making it one of the oldest and most tried and true dating sites on the internet.
The Cost: Match costs $23.99 per month for three months, or $19.99 per month for a year’s worth of premium. They do offer a free version, but users report it is pretty useless. One perk, however, is that Match is so confident with their results that they have an “I Met Someone” guarantee—offering six months of free use if you don’t meet someone within the first six months.
Zoosk (zoosk.com) — the best starter option
How It Works: If you’re ready to dip your toes into the online dating world but aren’t sure if you’re ready for the huge questionnaires and time-commitment of other sites, Zoosk may be the perfect site for you. Creating a profile is quick and easy, and although you have the option to go more in depth with questions to find more specific matches, Zoosk is great for a casual date hook-up if you’re looking for people to enjoy time with but perhaps not wanting to get too serious. Zoosk uses it’s SmartPick algorithm to help you find people to connect with. Similar to Facebook, Zoosk shows you profiles based off of the profiles you’ve clicked on or interacted with in the past. It is a low-pressure environment with a simple visual appeal (you only see one profile at a time), so it’s great for those who may otherwise get overwhelmed with too much on the screen. One thing to note, however, is that there isn’t much customer service when it comes to tech-support. So if you aren’t tech savvy and need a bit more help, you may want to consider another website.
The Cost: A 1-month subscription is $29.95, a 3-month subscription is $19.98 per month, and a 6-month subscription is $12.49 per month.
Elite Singles (elitesingles.com) — for those who are picky
How It Works: EliteSingles is the site for people who know exactly what they want and who aren’t interested in casual mingling. The whole idea of the website is quality over quantity. The majority of the users are college graduates who are looking for other professionals who have similar interests. All profiles are verified with a fraud detection system, so you can connect with confidence, knowing that other users are likely who they say they are.
The Cost: Although EliteSingles does offer a free version, users can go premium for 3-months at $62.95 per month, 6-months at $44.95 per month, or 12-months at $31.95 per month.
Eharmony (eharmony.com) — for long term commitment
How It Works: Eharmony is a go-to for marriage minded people looking for love that lasts. Although it is not specific to the senior age group, you can set your preferences to find and connect with other users on the website who fit into your age category. They claim to be responsible for 4% of the marriages in the United States, and they’re so confident with their services that if you aren’t satisfied after your first three months, they’ll give you another three months for free. They use an intense compatibility system with a longer quiz that helps the website match you up with others who you’re likely to find long-term commitment with. They also offer a lot of dating advice. It has safety screening precautions in place so that you aren’t exposed to media you don’t want to see.
The Cost: Although there is a free version, it doesn’t let you connect with your matches. The upgraded version goes for $54.95 per month for 3-months, $36.95 per month for 6-months, and $18.95 per month for 12-months.
Religious Dating Sites:
For those who consider religion to be a priority when it comes to dating, these websites have become quite popular — so we figured they’re worth mentioning! Visit their websites to learn more.
Jdate (jdate.com) — serves a diverse community of Jewish singles worldwide. The website goes above and beyond by recommending people who share similar feelings when it comes to what’s important about their faith.
Mutual (mutual.app) — created by BYU graduates, specifically catered towards helping members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints find a companion of the same faith.
Muslima (muslima.com) — the largest dating site serving the Muslim community. It gives members the chance to discuss in depth what aspects of their faith are important to them.
Christian Mingle (christianmingle.com) — for those seeking a Christian companion. Although it is not initially specific to a certain denomination, you can set your filters based on religion to help you find a match who belongs to a specific faith.
