Some of the best decorations you can have are the kind you make yourself! DIY Valentine’s Day decor is easy to make and is beautiful too! In today’s blog, I’ll walk you through how to make these adorable tealight coasters!
Materials:
- Heart-Shaped Mosaic Tiles
- Acrylic paints (any colors you want, but red and pink work well for Valentine’s Day)
- Craft Adhesive Glue
- Foam Brush
- Round Paint Palate
- White Tea Lights
- Washi Tape (shop around and find one that you like)
Directions
Load up some paint into the round palate. We’d recommend doing white and a couple of accent colors like red and pink. Then, use your foam brushes to paint the heart tiles! We think painting them a solid color looks best, but you can make any designs your heart desires. Just make sure you have an even number of white tiles and tiles with color. Allow them to dry for 20 minutes, and apply a second coat if you need to.- Once the tiles are completely dry, squeeze a few dots of the craft adhesive glue on the undersides of one of the white tiles. Then, take a tile you’ve painted a color or design on and place it backside down on top of the glue. Finally, align the hearts until they match. Let the glue dry for 2-3 hours before handling.
- While the glue is drying, cut out some strips of your washi tape to fit along the metal trip of your tea lights. Press the tape down firmly to place it along the sides of the candle. Try to make sure the entire metal finish is covered.
- Once you’ve taped the candles and given the glue time to dry, you can finally place the tea lights on the coasters! Feel free to flip them over to whichever side you like more!
