Everybody loves the old, classic holiday movies. Home Alone, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Jingle All The Way, and It’s A Wonderful Life have always been some of my favorites! But, many people don’t know about some of the new holiday movies that came out over the last couple of years! So, this year, I think it would be fun to try some of the new holiday movies! So, in today’s blog, I’ll give five recommendations of some of my favorite, more recent holiday movies.
A Boy Called Christmas (2021)
A Boy Called Christmas is a brand-new Netflix release. It’s a story about the origin of Santa Claus taking place when the holiday figure was a child. On a quest to find his father, will Nikolas be able to bring hope and joy to the kingdom? Admittedly, it’s not the most fun, carefree movie. But, it makes up for it in entertainment and a heart-warming story. Narrated by Dame Maggie Smith, this heartwarming film is one you’ll want to check out this year. Check it out on Netflix!
8-Bit Christmas (2021)
In the late 1980s, a young boy goes on a daring quest. What does he want? The brand-new Nintendo Entertainment System. The nostalgic elements in this movie make it worth the watch, but it has so much more than that! So, it’s a surprisingly warm and enjoyable holiday movie! Check this one out on HBO Max.
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Story (2020)
This holiday musical is one of my favorites! A once-joyful toymaker rediscovers his light when his bright young granddaughter arrives at his doorstep. So, be sure to check this one out on Netflix!
Klaus (2019)
Klaus was a surprise hit in 2019, but I still don’t see many people talking about it! This holiday movie has charming animation and a heartwarming story—some of the best I’ve seen in a holiday movie. Be sure to watch this one with the kids this year! You can watch Klaus on Netflix.
Noelle (2019)
Noelle was one of the first movies on Disney+, but I feel like it didn’t get much attention. This holiday movie follows Santa’s grown-up children after they discover they have to save Christmas. This movie doesn’t take itself too seriously, and it’s a lot of fun! Check it out on Disney+.
I hope this list has given you a few new holiday movies to watch this year! Be sure to leave us a comment and let us know what your favorite holiday movies are! You can find some (mostly) upcoming movie recommendations on our blog!
